Beliashe Theatre was founded in Norway (1981) by a group of actors led by Tim Dalton. Right from the beginning the main purpose of the theatre was to create the theatrical language, overcoming language and cultural barriers. Since 1989 the group has worked in France. In 1994 they prepared the giant outdoor show which was presented at the Winter Olympic Games in Lillehammer.
“The Street of Crocodiles” was inspired by I. B. Singer’s and B. Schulz’s prose. Tim Dalton says: “Magical realism” existed among the Haassidic communities of Eastern Europe long before it appeared in South America. That’s why a link between Singer and Marquez, Schulz and Borges is possible today”.
